Torchlight II - starts first time after install, crashes any time after

So I downloaded the Torchlight II demo using PlayOnMac to make sure it worked before I bought it... started up fine, went through the intro video, but was kinda slow so I went into the settings to lower the graphics. It asked me to restart, I said fine, and now it crashes whenever I try to open it. Launcher works fine, but when it gets to the loading screen after a minute or two a pop-up window saying it crashed with no other explanation comes up, and the loading screen stays up unless I totally quit XQuartz. This is as much of the debugger window as I could copy, as far as I can tell it's just loading info with nothing about the crash:

So I've figured out that the issue is not graphics/whatever, but it won't launch more than once after an install. If I clear the local files then reinstall the game it works fine the first time, then if I try to launch it again it crashes. This is what's coming up on the debugger:
