Hello! I'm new to linux. I have just installed the latest version of Xubuntu, updated it completely, and installed the latest version of playonlinux from this website. I have also installed Baldur's Gate on my machine. Whenever I open up the game, the launcher works just fine, and I can choose to Play, Uninstall, Update, etc. When I click Play, however, I get a crash in Wine: "Internal errors - invalid parameters received."

When I run the debugger, wine reads, "Unhandled page fauilt on the read access to 0xffffffff at address 0x7c654050 (thread 0037), starting debugger... Can't attach process 0036: error 5"

I've already tried to do this with the MMO, Runes of Magic, and since that didn't work, I resorted to this.

I do not have drivers installed or DirectX or anything like that, which, I assume I do not need, or they were already installed before. Again, I'm a n00b with Linux, though, I understand Windows quite well. If someone could direct me on what I could to do fix this, I would appreciate it very much. I only have 1GB of RAM, an Intel Pentium dual-core, running an ATI Xpress200M on the drivers Linux installed for me. Thank you.

This is not sufficient to understand what's going on, crash address is useful when you have the sources of the game, which we obviously don't.
Try generating a bug report when asked, that's the easiest way to collect many useful technical informations.
By the way, did you download Baldur's Gate from gog.com?

Hello, sorry about that. Aren't you the guy who made the script? :D That's awesome. Anyway, yes, i do have the gog.com edition of the game. That installed just fine. It's when I run it, that I come into some problems. Here all of the info from the debugger. I hope this helps.

Sadly the logs don't contain much more info.
You could try enabing a virtual desktop with a standard resolution (right click on shortcut > Configure Wine > Graphics > Emulate virtual desktop, leave 800x600 resolution), or installing ATI's proprietary driver...

Yeah, I can't seem to get the drivers to work. I'm running old hardware, and the legacy drivers say something abot the policies not being supported. I think I'll have to just go back to Windows :/

Making a virtual desktop didn't help, either.

Yup, I retrieve a somewhat old workstation (3 years old!), and the last driver for the ATI videocard was released this summer. Now I have the choice between a not-so-stable forward port of this driver for recent kernels, or an open source driver that is not as featureful as the proprietary one, and is marginally more stable...
