Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu Precise, 64 bit.  Dell XPS-8300 desktop.  Using Unity.
I have an Nvidia GT 530 with 1G RAM on board.
System has 6 G RAM.
CPU is core i5-2400.

I'm brand new to PlayonLinux.  And to this forum.
I've just installed PlayonLinux (version 4.0.14-1) via Synaptic.
This also auto-installed WINE version 1.5.5.
Then I installed (vanilla) Oblivion from my CD (version 1.1.425 is now installed)
This process also auto-installed WINE version 1.3.29.

I guess the older game requires the older version of WINE...?

The game seemed to install OK. I didn't actually try to play.
(I only looked at the opening sequence up to the character creation screen.)

I wanted to patch it as I remembered doing on Windows a while back.
I'm having some problems applying the 1.2.0416 patch.
I see a couple of errors:

"Patch Warning: missing or invalid registry/INI entry".
After clicking OK, I see:
"Patch warning: Old file does not exist". After a 2nd OK, I get:
"Patch error". And it closes. Unpatched.

I'm not sure what might be "missing" or "invalid" OR what "old file" refers to.
I'd be appreciative for any suggestions as to how I might fix this.
