Hello,

I was trying to install Fable III using PlayOnLinux and script 889 / Fable III.

Despite the virtual drive created, when it asked where is the mounted CD-ROM ( I'm using DVD Version) , I chose FableIII. But then it says unable to find CD-ROM.

I can't understand why. My brother tried to download in his Windows PC, and it's installed fine. I'm not sure what I do wrong...

Is there any way I could get an old version of it or something...somewhere?

I was testing Fable 3 in PlayOnLinux this week and it installs just fine, but I can't get it to launch at all.
I have been doing some research and think the main problem is xlive.dll which is for Games For Windows Live.
There have been problems even in Windows with their own game client, so I downloaded the fakexlive and the instructions are very confusing.

How the heck can we launch Fable 3 so it bypasses Windows Live?

I was just trying to install the Steam version on my new desktop. I get a blank black screen with a yellow cursor but no sound and nothing happens. The cursor only moves to part of the screen. Maybe a 64 bit installl?

I was just trying to install the Steam version on my new desktop. I get a blanck black screen with a yellow cursor but no sound and nothing happens. The cursor only moves to part of the screen. Maybe a 64 bit installl?

Did you remember to disable the Steam Overlay? That could definitely cause Fable III to crash.
Also, does Fable III force you to install Games for Windows Live even after launching it with Steam?
I have the retail copy, but the DRM is not allowing me to play it. I never got the game to launch at all. I did a lot of research and tried everything.

If it forces you to install Games for Windows Live, then you may want to try an xliveless version of Wine or use the xlive.dll trick by downloading it from here then saving it to the vritual drive's windows/system 32 folder

I just tried reinstalling but it still will not work. It displays a black screen with a yellow mouse cursor and no error messages. I tried disabling the Steam overly. I trried installing windows live from POL but steam ran the same install when I ran the game, I am going to try using the POL script to disable WL.

I cant fid the script. I guess it only shows up during install.

There is an mscoree library you can install in PlayOnLinux. Probably won't fix the problem, but you never know.

I tried using the wine remove funtion to remove gwlive and the game plays the MGstudio splash screen then the fable III splash screen then wine crashes, says something about a missing dll. I aaam running an liveless version of POL wine.

Maybe the xlive.dll.64 is because you have a 64-bit operating system?
Are you using a 32-bit version of Wine as well?
