I am forced to use live usb with ubuntu, cos I use a company PC. I want to install civ 5, which requires much more space than the 4gb the live USB allows. I want to mint there remaining part of the usb, some 12 GB spare. I want to move the playonlinux dir to a new location, so I have the needed spare space

Hey there,

I'm having a similar issue - my kubuntu install directory is smallish (30gb) and I would prefer to install the games onto a different (and much much larger) partition (linux formatted, not windows). Some of the games I play can be very addon heavy and would eat up the space in no time. I won't be giving kubuntu a bigger partition until Seatools finally agrees that my main hard drive is defective and Seagate replaces it. (Three other programs say it's toast.) At this rate, it'll be three days after the warranty expires next year. But I digress.

Does the pol_helper plugin still work? It hasn't been updated since May of 2009, and has been abandoned. If it doesn't, is there another way to change the directory?

(I'm doing some research on this while out of town - or I'd try it right now. Figured I'd use the downtime to ask since I'm coming up with nothing.)

Thanks in advance

Hi deckoff, I think there is a solution to your problem in the FAQ thread : http://www.playonmac.com/en/topic-646-Frequently_Asked_Questions.html

You can use "mount" to "move" the playonlinux dir somewhere else... (I've never done that but I think that's what the poster describes.)

I've solved with symlink: simply move .Playonlinux somewhere else, say /Games/PlayOnLinux and then:

ln -s /Games/PlayOnLinux ~/.PlayOnLinux

I have any issue with this setup.
