I noticed that the version my distro(PCLinuxOS) installed from my repository is version 4.0.9 and the current version is 4.0.12. as humans reading a string of numbers we tend to automatically sort through formatting incongruities. but I have seen issues with packages from other applications in the past where 4.0.12 would actually be seen as an earlier version than 4.0.9 because the machine sees 4.0.90 I would like to submit that future versions have the decimal places reserved a set number of spaces to eliminate confusion between human/machine perception. for instance 4.0.9 would have been 4.00.09 and 4.0.12 would be 4.00.12 :D

Not a bad idea, but I think it's a bit too late :D

How is it to late to correct future versions? After all the future hasn't happened yet.
