Black Screen After Load

Hello potential solution provider!

So I've installed The Sims 3 using PlayOnLinux and the installation went beautifully. Now, when I try to start the game using the icon placed on my desktop, it won't start. I then changed the properties of the icon to point to TS3.exe instead of the launcher. The game now starts, displays several graphics (Sims 3, EA) then shows an intro video. If I press any button during the intro video it stops and the screen goes black. The same thing happens when the video ends. I assume at this point I should be looking at a menu, but nothing. I can hear music, my cursor turns into an hourglass, but I don't see anything.

I'm running a very clean copy of Ubuntu 10.04, ATI HD 5670 graphics card.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Like many other games, The Sims 3 is not working correctly with AMD/ATI Cards under GNU/Linux. First thing to try is to update graphic drivers to the latest version aviable.

You can follow the AppDB entry for this game, if a solution/new wine version is working with AMD/ATI cards, it will be posted here.

Also note that many users report this game not working with wine without "disabling" copy protection, you can try that and see if it's better. Please remember PlayOnLinux is not supporting piracy so don't post link or demands for such files because, in Europe (and especially France), those files are illegals.

I'm sorry to not be able to help you more...

Just letting you know that I fixed your link, Raziel (in case you're wondering why I edited your post) ;)

Attention : Je suis aussi noob que vous, prenez mes suggestions avec un grain de sel ;)
