(The smiley is ":" followed by "D")

As you can see, I'm currently on another computer (user: bruker, not "blodfjert"). Problem is the same though.

I think I cannot help in that case. I would report that issue on Bugzilla.

A common solution to this kind of problem is to copy the contents of the CD into some folder on your PC and link there instead of the driver. Let us know if that doesn't work, a dev will try to help you further...

Disclaimer: I'm a noob, not a dev; my advice is only a guess.
Attention : Je suis aussi noob que vous, prenez mes suggestions avec un grain de sel ;)

sry, didn't really solve the problem.
the installer finds the content of the cd in my local folder, but when the installation sould start, the original-diablo-installer asks for install-disc and can't find it.

Just got on the forums and noticed a diablo 2 installation problem. I had a similar issue because fstab was taking control of my cdrom. I use debian set up as a stable rolling edition (currently squeeze - updated kernel to 2.6.38 for laptop and performence fixes). Anywho, permissions. If a device is in fstab it meens that unless something else is set up to use those devices root is the only user with full permission on that device.
If you edit fstab (gedit /etc/fstab) and put a # at the begginning of the line where your cdrom is save and restart.
So long as you have a mount or another similar automount program installed it will now mount under the label.
Now all i had to do is add the discs label names to the drives list in winecfg prior to actually installing.
ex. e: would be /media/Diablo II Disc 1
f: would be /media/Diablo II Disc 2
and so on

You will also need to restart for the changes in fstab to take effect. The Disc labels are case sensitive so be sure you put them in the drives exactly as the label name for each disc.
After this you should be able to install without having to do any funny business with the discs, just be sure to give it a moment to mount and read the next disc between discs.
