I'm new to using linux, and I'm not sure I fully understand how wine and playonlinux work, so I thought I could ask a simple question. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this.
My understanding is that wine is sort-of-kind-of a go-between for DirectX (and other Windows APIs) and Linux -- it's not a virtual machine or anything, it's more like a translator. Playonlinux is a combination of a bunch of scripts and a gui to make configuring wine easier, but it doesn't really add anything -- everything I can do on playonlinux I could also do with just wine (plus maybe some other packages?) if I wanted to https://speedtest.vet/ .
So does this mean that if I set up a playonlinux profile to download and play Skyrim through Steam, I could use that profile to download other games and run their executables in another profile? Or do I need to have a "different" Steam client for each playonlinux profile? Also, where are these files being installed? Can I see them in the linux file browser, or are they on some virtual drive that only wine can see?
