Hi all,
I need wine 8.0 (amd64) for a certain programme to run but when looking on what playonlinux has to offer
(using the the wine-versions tab) I see the latest versions available are 7.22 for "x86" and 6.17 staging for "amd64".
Is there any other way of getting playonlinux to use wine 8.0?
Many thanks in advance
Rosika
P.S.:
my system: Linux/Linux Lite 6.2., 64 bit

My playonlinux only lets me update to the wine version of 6.17 (64 bits). Does anyone know why?

I agree, the PlayOnLinux Wine Manager hasn't updated any 64-bit version of Wine past 6.17
We would love to have Wine 7.0 and 8.0 available!
Otherwise I have been using Proton and Proton GE instead.
Any time I install install a new prefix manually I can only select a 32-bit version of Wine, but when I switch to 64-bit prefix there isn't a version availabe for 7.0 so I have to stick with 6.0 and then switch to Proton later in the Configure menu

@Booman:
When will PlayOnlinux's Wine Manager be updated to make both Wine 7.0 and Wine 8.0 available in Wine Manager?

Yes, I´d like to know the answer to that question, too.
When will wine 8.0 be available for playonlinux?
Or at least a "manual solution" for integrating wine 8.0...
I tried the following:
- wget https://dl.winehq.org/wine/source/8.0/wine-8.0.tar.xz
- tar -xvf wine-8.0.tar.xz
- cd wine-8.0/
- ./configure --enable-win64
- make && sudo make install
So I actually got wine 8.0 (64bit) installed in a certain directory but I´ve no idea how to get it imported into playonlinux...
Many greetings
Rosika

My answers are :
- Number of developpers contributing to POL v4 source code since 2018: < 1 .
- Number of developpers contributing to POL v5 (code name Phoenicis) since 2018: < 2 .
- About Wine's versions provided (output builds) these are build by: phoenicis-winebuild (commits). Sometimes Playonlinux's Wines versions are build fine automatically, sometimes (such as for latests months) they need human work ...
FYI I started to contribute to CrossOver (by the makers of Wine) in 2021.

@Dadu042. I plan to buy crossOver, but still not use the use of it other than Office. POL has been work ootb. I know that working on POL need constant work time, well... I want to start contribute to, but there are little to no one ever mention how to start, etc...
If you are the veteran, could you please, teach us the newbie, how to start to help work on? Thank you

@Rosika, I always use Fedora, and the latest RC Wine always built by them, and it's work ootb, so you can also try to hop distro. Fedora is bleeding edge, but very stable... RPMS is better than debians... so you can try it. Some of debs not available on Fedora, but flatpak is fullfilling it... and it will be perfect OS for anything. It's simpler than tinkering about the new version of WINE on POL
EDIT: https://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-17954-Wine_602_released_but_still_not_available_in_PlayOnLinux.html#m69551
I add more information on the wine version. It worth to try, as it's working, even on fedora (rpm based)

thanks a lot for your answer.

O.K., I´m on Linux Lite 6.2, which is ubuntu-based.
I´ll also answer to your reply on https://www.playonlinux.com/en/topic-17954.html .
