Hello all,

Thanks for making and maintaining such a wonderful additon to the Unix ecosystem. I'm having a problem with excessive CPU usage which I think is not related to the demands of the game itself.

System: MBP late 2015. 2.2 GHz 4-core i7, 16GB RAM @1600MHz, Intel Iris Pro with 1536MB. Catalina v10.15.7.

When I first launch Steam from PlayOnMac, CPU usage for process 'wine32on64-preloader' hovers around 25%. After about 15 minutes playing, CPU usage is around 180% and I experience throttling. Specifically, my frame rate degrades. At some point, not sure when, a second instance of 'wine32on64-preloader' is active, which consumes an additional 50% CPU usage. This second instance consistently appears, sometimes immediatley alongside the other process, or later.

Unfortunately, this makes the game unplayable. The game is Day of Defeat 1.6 (precedes source engine), so it's not demanding. I can also run the game in bootcamp (same computer) with no issues. So, I don't think it's an issue of raw computing power.

Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Thanks! Phillip.
