Ubuntu 18.04. I have read changing the WINE version can help with this so from Tools >> Manage Wine versions >> I have installed 3.20 for x86 and amd64 but when I try installing again 2.0.1 is automatically selected.  I have also changed Configure >> Firefox >> General >> Virtual Drive >> Wine version to System and 3.20 and tried reinstalling, selecting updating and overwritng the virtual drive, but still it hangs. I then tried Install a non-listed program for the x64 and x86 version of Firefox Setup 74.0.exe and received the following error:

 

PlayOnLinux has encountered an error. If the program you are installing does not work correctly, it might be the cause of the problem.

Though my filesystem is ext4. Despite the errors I click next and proceed with the installation but afterwards when I try to open either version I receive the error:

Wine v2.0.1 is outdated, I update the script with v2.22 (the oldest Wine currently recommended).

However, this script was last updated on 2017 by SuperPlumus (with Firefox 31 I think). Details are in the changelog of the script (and also my failed attempt to use Wine 3.0.3, and Firefox v74).

 

Perhaps that editing this script to allow it to install from a local older Firefox file (instead of everytime downloading the latest Firefox version) could make it working again.
