Hello, I really hope this hasn't been posted before but I can't find the search.
I was recently able to get Creatures 3 to run using PlayonLinux (YAY!). I then tried installing Docking Station and it says it needs to run in High Color - 16 bit colors. I have been scouring the internet looking for a way to do this, but so far I've come up empty.
I'm sure a lot of classic gamers like myself would love to know how to do this as well. the Creatures series isn't the only game that is picky about its color palette.
Thank you for reading.

Hmm, haven't seen that one before. Maybe select a different version of Windows in Wine Configuration.
Try Windows XP or Even Windows 2000
Also, try installing the basis direct X 9 dependencies. This might help with the High Color 16 bit configuration'
What version of Wine are you using?
What version of PlayOnLinux are you using?

Silverdrake3, is it the error message? : "Unsupported True Color (32bpp) mode 800x600x switching to High Color (16bpp)", Someone had it on a other game in 2016. If so, I'm afraid that Ubuntu dropped some libraries between Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04.

In that post there is a mention of using the virtual desktop to resolve this problem. This might fix your issue...
Dadu042 - Is there a way to install those old libraries?

Ah, that makes sense. Any DOS game I've tried to play worked in DOSBox, I wouldn't even try PlayOnLinux
But I have tested older Windows 95 games and Wine can handle them, but I've had issues with low resolution like 800x600 as well. You can use the virtual desktop, but the game will appear windowed, so then you have to change the Linux Desktop resolution to match 800x600 or 1024x768... whatever the game needs.
But it looks pretty bad on these newer wide-screen monitors.
