I went to winehq and saw that fallout 4 is supposed to work well (gold) with Wine 3.3.  So using PlayonLinux, I downloaded 3.3, launched Steam and went to fallout 4 (I own this game, ran on Windows).  However, there's no install button or play button.  When I right click on the title and select Install, it says that it's an unsuppported platform.  So I thought this had to do with it being setup as XP and changed it to 7, still no good. I then changed it to 10, same thing.  I've seen other threads on here saying they downloaded it fine but had other issues.  Anyone have any ideas on how to install Fallout 4?

Fallout 4 need a 64-bit system. If your system is 64-bit, you need to create a 64-bit wineprefix with a 64-bit wine version ;)

I have a 64bit Linux installation.  I don't recall downloading a specific version of Wine, believe it was automatic with PlayonLinux install.  Looking at the installed apps in Ubuntu, it looks like I have both wine32 and wine64 installed with wine-stable.  The wine-stable doesn't say if it's 32 or 64 from what I can tell.  How do you create a wineprefix in PlayonLinux?

I see the error in my ways.  In PlayonLinux, I downloaded the 32 bit version of wine for 3.3.

ok, I downloaded the 64bit version of 3.3, but it doesn't show up as a version option when I configure steam.  FYI, I removed the 32 bit version of 3.3 so I couldn't confuse them.  So what gives?  I checked and there doesn't seem to be a 64bit version of Steam.  I tried to install a fresh copy of Steam using a "non-listed" application but the 64 bit version of wine isnt' available there either.

You can install steam manually in a 64-bit wineprefix. Steam 32-bit can install a 64-bit game. But to run a 64-bit game, wine must be 64-bit.

You must install wine package from the POL wine version manager (POL let you use multiple version of wine). The one you install with your OS is the wine system version in POL
