I tried both the stable release 4.2.10 and the latest Git source however when I go to Tools menu to choose Wine version to install the latest available version is only 1.9.24.

just let the developers a bit time :) They do it for free (for us ^^)

wine-2.0-rc1 was released on 9.12.2016 (https://www.winehq.org/news/2016120901)
so it's just a matter of days till it's available. 

Or try add it yourself and git push it :)
