What is Xterm needed for?

I don't use Xterm and prefer not to keep it installed on my Ubuntu 16.10 system because each time I search for "terminal" in the Dash, it selects Xterm instead of Gnome Terminal. Thus I removed it. Now I am receiving the following message upon start of PlayOnLinux. Can I safely ignore it? Thanks! -Robert
