So the standard GoG installed runs fine, but the Steam version which is the HD copy has this visual artifact where the video output is split like that - any idea what kind of libraries I might be missing or any tweaks I could use to fix that?

Thanks in advance.

I'm very familiar with this problem on my Chromebook as well.
I have an Acer C710 Chromebook with Ubuntu 12 on it (ChrUbuntu)

My video chip is an Intel HD 2000
Its so old that most modern games don't play.  The most demanding game I can play is Torchlight.  Of course I can play a bunch of older games, DOS games and emulate Playstation games as well.

I've seen those artifacts before on some games.

What Intel video chip does yours have?

This is the full CB specs: www.toshiba.co.uk/laptops/chromebook/chromebook-2/toshiba-cb30-b-104/

Not sure what specific Intel HD version as it doesn't say, but cpu specs; http://ark.intel.com/products/82103/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2840-1M-Cache-up-to-2_58-GHz

That's all I know, did you ever figure out any way to solve the screen-split like that?

Thanks again.

My problem was a limitation with the Intel HD 2000 video chip.  Your problem might be the same.  If your Toshiba has  an Intel HD 2000 or 3000 then it doesn't support that game.

On mine, I just couldn't play certain games.
