Traktor only detects one of my 3 soundcards.

Hello.

I've installed Traktor but I'm having the next problem, it does only detect one of my 3 soundcards but I need the three (or at least two of them working, to use the preview function) Linux detects them without any problem, and I've tried also with the other program known as Mixxx and I was able to use them without any problem.

How can I make Traktor to use them?

Traktor does not work with multiple soundcards (check the manual for Traktor). Even on Windows it's like that; no mutliple-audio device support. You can do some fancy work, but for the most part, Traktor requires an audio interface (like the DJIO) that is specifically made for DJing (with audio out and a separate headphone/que out), and it will only pick up one audio device and only use one.

Mixxx supports multiple soundcards. Traktor just flat out does not support the use of multiple audio devices; only one. No matter what the OS. You will either need a DJIO or equiv. audio interface, or you will need to switch to Mixxx or another program (trust me; without a bunch of fancy work with Jack, you cannot use multiple cards with Traktor. That is by design, unfortunately.).

I got one of those but it was only detecting my built in soundcard, I managed to solve it by checking the settings on PAVU Control, now it works fine.

Mixxx looks good, but it doesn't have all the things I need, and it's a little bit outdated but any way, I'll check Mixxx more to see how it works, I get to know it better...

Thanks for the answer Ronin. ;)

Sweet. I use a DJIO exactly like that, and I had to switch it through pulse, as well. Glad it's working. I know Mixxx is not as good as Traktor, but if you have not tasted Traktor, Mixxx is great. hahaha. You're welcome. (edited for spelling. I can't believe I did that. lol.)

Now I found a way to do what I wanted on Mixxx, I think I'll stick it with, it looks great and as soon as I have money make donations, I will not pay for software again, I want to use Free Open Source Software, it's better for anyone to be able to use them if they need it, my money will be better invested in projects like PlayOnLinux, Mixxx, Arch Linux, Gimp, etc. I've already bought things from the Numix guys but well... That's another topic of discussion.

I'll use Mixxx, as I get tired of Windows and closed source software I mean, I have a fully running Arch install that uses only 354 Mb, I'm never going to be able to achieve that low RAM consumption on WIndows, I'm happy I changed to Linux already.

Well... Sorry if I wrote too much, I'm the kind of girl that can write a lot...

Oh, and also, LMMS looks good for musical production, I want to learn to do that, I'll RTFM (Read the Fine Manual) :P to achieve it.

It's all good. Actually, LMMS is really nice if you are into a FruityLoops (now FL Studio) workflow. I actually prefer BitWig Studio now (as an Ableton user since the beginning over 10 years ago), and it is AWESOME, and native to Linux.

Plus, with Jack/POL/WineASIO, I can run Reason 5, a bunch of VST's, among other Windows-only virtual instruments into it with no problem. Just like real life with fake cables. haha.

I'll check BitWig, I haven't heard of it before. And I'm a complete noob in music production, my interest in this started by college, I have a class were we study this kind of software and it's pretty insteresting, same happened with Linux. I haven't heard of Reason 5 :P, I'll check them both to see wich one I feel more comfortable with and stick with.

And btw, sorry for my bad English, it's not my mother language and I'm still learning it.

Propellerhead Reason, the whole Native Instruments suite, Ableton Live (or BitWig) are my studio mainstays. I started producing music like, 17 years ago. You are on a fun path. :)

You must be a monster of music production then, 17 years means a lot of experience. Do you have a Sound Cloud? And what do you produce the most? I want to produce Trance and Psytrance, but Glitch Hop, Trap and Liquid DnB sound awesome as well...

I have a doubt now, with Ableton running via Wine/POL, you're able to use some VST's like Sylenth1, right? How can you achieve something like this? I found an option that said something about installing a non listed program and then I was able to choose an already created drive, should I do it this way?

Yes, you can do all of that, but you will want to check out the kxstudio forums, as there are a lot of people on there that want to do the same thing that you want to do. It is just out of scope for us.

I produce anything and everything. Metal, hip hop, electronica, etc.. I will post some links, but after that, let's keep on topic. ;)
