How do I automatically add shortcuts to POL applications to the menu?

I want to add my POL applications to my menu. Running 'parameters --run "application"' gave me

[POL_Wine] Message: Notice: PlayOnLinux deliberately disables winemenubuilder. See http://www.playonmac.com/fr/page-26-Winemenubuilder.html

I've tried doing what this document says and added 'export WINEDLLOVERRIDES="", but that didn't work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Is the application name meant to go in between the double quotes? I tried that. What is supposed to go there.

I heard that POL used to have this functionality, but removed it so it could have more control over which Wine version is used per-application. Then why is there no problem with creating a practical desktop shorcut?

Edit: A workaround is to just manually create a shortcut from within PlayOnLinux then copy that to ~/.local/share/applications, but I would rather like a more automatic and tidy solution.
