Hello PoL forums,
I got my new laptop for uni and installed Mint 17 since it is the lts distro and I really liked 16. I followed booman´s guide on my old computer and it worked so i tried it again but this time it isnt working for some reason and I havent been able to figure out why with google. The error output from debugging is below, along with my laptop´s specs.
[09/24/14 03:19:38] - Running wine-1.7-LeagueOfLegends lol.launcher.exe (Working directory : /home/mico/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/leagueOfLegends/drive_c/Riot Games/League of Legends)

Is your Mint 17 the 64-bit version? If yes, you might want to install ia-32libs so you will have the 32-bit libraries. If those aren't available, you may want to try installing "multi-arch" for the 32-bit libraries.
Can you play any other games on it?
If League Of Legends ran in Mint 16 it will definitely run in Mint 17. Make sure the Nvidia proprietary drivers are installed:
- Menu
- Administration
- Driver Manager

My linux mint is indeed 64 bit.
I tried installing ia-32libs and multi-arch but it didnt change anything. I dont have any other games that run only on windows so im not sure. I added the key to the registry and now the only error I get is some weird sentence about an unhandled exception.
wine: Unhandled exception 0x40000015 in thread 33 at address 0x573eea (thread 0033), starting debugger...
And when I went to the driver manager it says that no proprietary drivers are in use so im not sure what to do for that.
If it helps at all my laptop is a Lenovo z50-70
Thank you for the assistance.

On a new note, i think my laptop might have a defective part or two because it was shutting down for no reason. I will investigate that further before I try playing more.

League of Legends definitely won't run without proprietary drivers for your video card/chip
What Nvidia chip does your latptop have? Hopefully its not one of those dual GPU setups where your processor had a video chip and the motherboard has a video chip

After some tinkering I discovered that the Nvidia X Server settings was causing my laptop to freeze. The Graphics on my laptop are Intel Haswell graphics as well as Nvidia GeForce 840M discrete graphics. Is this one of those setups where the GPU is shared and can I do anything about it?

You can try Bumblebee Nvidia Optimus drivers. This will be your best bet, but at your own risk of course.
If you want to play games, I have a feeling this will be your only option.
