Hi everyone.

The game is installed using the Glyph interface.

I've downloaded the game using wine because the file "GlyphInstall.exe" doesn't run on POL even on a clean prefix and debug doesn't report anything.

After that i've copied the folder with the client in the POL prefix, and starting "GlyphClient.exe" makes the interface run. The game is downloaded without any error (apparently).

I've installed vcrun2005, vcrun2008 and d3dx9. Wine 1.7.19. OS Windows Vista. Using Win7 gives me a pop-up window with this error: "This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows". Reinstalling the application may fix this problem".

Pressing the play button simply doesn't nothing and the debugger gives no error.

Any any suggestion is appreciated, i really love to make it run.

I'll update if anything comes out.

Little update, sometimes i can get "ArcheAge Error 1035″ which is for firewall issues and similar.

Maybe the real problem is with the HackShield that can't connect as in many other games.

I also tried to play ArcheAge.

Installed glyph (64 bit wine, windows set to winXP) without a problem

Same for the game itself (installation with glyph lauchner) but the game never starts.

Error:

fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x5a6000 0 0x32fcc4 4
fixme:toolhelp:CreateToolhelp32Snapshot Unimplemented: heap list snapshot
fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x9f1000 0 0x32fd14 4
fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0

After installing winbind (because of some old bug reports on winehq for the error above):

err:seh:raise_exception Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception.

tired with different versions of vcrun, directx and most of the other winetricks stuff. also with 32 bit wine

Just curious if anyone has been able to play ArcheAge through PlayOnMac yet? I really want to play but I really don't want to set up bootcamp. If anyone has experience successfully running ArcheAge on Mac with PlayOnMac please let me know.

I'm still waiting for the dowload to complete but here are a few "fixes" that you guys can try. Let me know if it works. I'll try once my download is complete. There HAS TO be a way to get this to work on POM/POL.

Hackshield Fix: https://support.trionworlds.com/app/hackshield/p/3640

24 Other Possible Fixes: http://www.crashwiki.com/24-fixes-archeage-crashes-errors-cryengine-3-logo-crash-stopped-working-freeze-low-fps-glyph-textures-dll-missing-d3dx9/

Let me know if any of you guys are able to get it to work. I really want to play this game!!!!

So... I broke my entire virtual drive trying to get this to work. Oops? :-(

No luck with any of the "fixes" here. Hackshield = Killer of Fun.

Since the game was released yesterday, I think it'll be just a matter of time until we see at least a workaround.

I am just downloading it right now, will try my best to get it running too.

Thanks for linking the fixes, even when they don't work for you, I'll try them anyways.

the game is available for a long time now in russia and even they did not find a workaround.

I see no chance for the game until there is no wine compatible version of hackshield

Been trying on Xubuntu 14.04 for 2 days and my process so far is like this:

- Create 32-bit virtual drive with Wine 1.7.44-staging.

- Configure as Windows 7 (will be changed later, not sure if the initial value matters).

- Install Microsoft Core Fonts, quartz, vcrun2005-2013, dotnet35sp1, dotnet40

(dotnet35sp1 will also install everything from dotnet20 upward; if it sits forever at "3.0 fix 2" just kill it and start it again)

- Open a shell and do "winetricks dotnet45" (since it's not available on the GUI list) <-- this is where the virtual drive will be switched automatically to Windows 2003; I left it like that.

- Install dxfull.

- Run executable GlyphInstall-0-120.exe from wherever you have it.

=> Glyph installs OK, game installs and updates OK, HackShield also updates OK but when trying to actually launch it doesn't work.

So every time I start Glyph and click [Play] I will get the watery ArcheAge splashscreen with the "poem" progress indicator, right before the last line of the poem lights up I will see the little HackShield popup at the bottom right of the screen, its progress bar will show 2 units filled and the popup will quickly disappear. Right after that the ArcheAge splash will close and my default browser will have a new tab opened and directed to https://support.trionworlds.com/hc/en-us/articles/204422847

This last step gives me hope, because it looks like it's a Windows-predictable failure where Glyph knows what didn't work (HackShield, unsurprisingly) and sends me directly to the appropriate troubleshooting article.

Damn, this feels like I'm so close, it's literally only that stupid HackShield standing between me and the game.

As for error messages, I have a ton of "fixme"s and a couple of "err"s:

Some of that DirectX stuff makes me think I should start trying specific versions of DX instead of dxfull at that last step. The mscoree.dll thing I haven't looked at yet.

To me, it looks like a driver issue. I would update your graphics drivers to the newest ones, along with installing the 32-bit libs for your card. If they were already installed, try to reinstall them with multiarch-support enabled for your system.

Already had NVidia's 331.113 (tested) driver installed and in use. Additionally installed libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 today (hope this is the right 32-bit lib package you were talking about).

Launched Glyph, got a game update, then a HackShield update (the progress bar on the corner popup went all the way to the end), but the same end result: the Archeage splash disappears without lighting up the last line of the poem and the HackShield troubleshooting page is opened in my browser.

Additionally installed libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 today (hope this is the right 32-bit lib package you were talking about).

Do you have the package "multiarch-support" installed? Also, is there a reason that you are using the wine-staging?

One thing that should be noted is that HackShield, like most copy protection stuff, gets grumpy through Wine/POL. If that is the case, then a crack needs to be used, and that is not something that we can help with. A quick google search for "Wine hackshield" is making me think that may be part of the problem.

multiarch-support is present too, don't know if it got added with the mesa:i386 thing or if I had it before.

I'm using the "staging" version because all I could understand from a quick search was that these "staging" versions have extra tweaks(?) and thus might be better than the standard ones. :P

But yeah, HackShield was always likely to be the biggest obstacle to playing ArcheAge - it's such a demanding security tool that it has to behave like a rootkit and it causes trouble even on Windows sometimes when it doesn't like what other programs or services you have running.

Still worth a try, I figured it had been almost a year since the latest results anyone had posted.

Lol. That may or may not be true, depending on what you are using it for. It is always recommended to try with a non-staging build first unless you know there is a patch in the -staging builds that you need.

Unfortunately, DRM like HackShield will pretty much not work, so your only choice is a crack, which again, we can't really help. Sorry.

everything I've found blames hacksheild.  it crashes and Archage won't run without it.

PS: is hackshield a copy protection? I thought it was to protect you from scripts being sent throgh the game.

Oh, yeah. You are correct. I was thinking of something else. Nevertheless, it probably wants access to the same type of stuff that DRM may. Either way, my searching showed the same thing; hackshield is grumpy with Wine.

... and with virtual machines. I'm getting the same behaviour in a Windows 7 VirtualBox, though here there's a small extra step in that a HackShield splashscreen appears briefly at the center of the screen, on top of the ArcheAge splash, before both shut down and the troubleshooting page is opened. It's to be expected that HackShield prevent usage of virtual machines since those are typically used for multi-logging cheats, but I thought when HackShield shut your game down for security reasons you were supposed to get a "Gods have severed this connection" error or something, not just a game that refuses to launch. Plus the fact that the HackShield-specific troubleshooting page is opened, not something about security - maybe it's still a problem with the HackShield software not being able to run properly rather than running and doing its job too well. :)

Anyway, I'm done trying for now. Back to GW2 for me. At least that one was well-behaved and ran just fine over WINE from day 1 of its release and even earlier in the beta. :)
