Fairly new to WINE/POL... using a procedure I found on the web (plus WineHQ data) to try to get Dragon Naturally Speaking installed...
The procedure says to install Wine 1.5.21 (amd64) in POL, then install Dragon in a new virtual drive. Here are the steps I'm doing...
HERE'S THE PROBLEM - although I installed the amd64 version of Wine 1.5.21, the only versions of Wine that are shown in this list ar the 32 bit versions that are installed.
Yes, testing with latest PlayOnLinux, I can confirm that the selection of Wine version in manual ("non-listed program") install is sligthly broken, it asks for the Wine version first, among the list of 32bit versions present, and only then whether to use the 32 or 64bit architecture (even if the 64bit one is not present; At that point it's automatically downloaded). That's a bug, there's no technical reason to require the 32bit variant of a Wine version to be present to get the 64bit variant of the same version to work.
I should also say I'm surprized by those instructions that recommend a 64bit version of Wine, because in other places one can read:
"For 64-bit users:
Currently NatSpeak installs flawlessly in wine-1.7.4 and runs in any wine version up to wine-1.7.7. It installs flawlessly in 1.7.7 but then does not run. ??"
Which basically says that the app doesn't seem compatible with 64bit Wine at all.
I tried installing Wine 1.5.21 (x86) and going through the Dragon install, but the install just hangs at the initial Dragon install dialog (the "Next" button is grayed out) and the POL window behind just continues to wait for an installation to begin.
I'm trying to install this on Mint 17 (Ubuntu 14.04/Trusty), and it IS 64 bit. I'm too new to Wine/POL to know if that means that I always have to use (only) 64 bit versions of Wine, but since the procedure I'm following says to use the 64 bit version of 1.5.21 (and since I tried the 32 bit/x86 version of 1.5.21 and it failed), I'm kinda stuck here.
Results in the AppDB look very varied, lots only partially working. Good luck.
