Getting more verbose error messages

Finding out why EA's Origin is so slow

Is there a way to get more error messages frrom PlayOnLinux? When I run EA's Origin with POL's wine 1.5.28-Origin, downloads take forever for example it took about 72 hours to download The Sims 3 base game. When I check the POL log file and scroll to the bottom as it  updates every time you launch something in the wine prefix. It only shows that origin started. It  is useless for figuring  out if internet traffic  is bogging down  or  what ever is wrong. If I run POL from a konosel will  that give more meaningfull information?

Select the shortcut, click on "Debug" in the side panel

The debug command reads the file:///home/steve7233/PlayOnLinux's virtual drives/SimCity/playonlinux.log . Also the debug command only shows the last few lines of the log so If you play the game a lot and you want to see the entire file then you have to use kate or some text editor to show the entire file, That file is not useful anyway in this case as it dosn't show what the problem is. I need something more verbose. BTW: is there any way to change the name of the wine prefix without having to reinstall every thing? It says simcity but The Sims 3 is installed? I used my simcity scrript and forgot to change the name of the wine prefix.

You can set the verbosity in the UI:
Configure button > (select the shortcut) > General tab > Debug flags
Syntax is described in http://wiki.winehq.org/DebugChannels, you can use "+all" to fill your harddrive faster.

Not automatically, there's probably some instances of the full path around, for example in the shortcuts (under ~/.PlayOnLinux/shortcuts/). I can't tell if they're other places to look at.

Here is something interesting:
(process:32579): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

(process:1055): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
Orrigin is still running. I have POL running from a konsoel. Origin is downloading. I just looked at the bash window and saw this. Since Origin is still running and the download % keeps increasing then I am gussing its not a critical error but it might be a clue as to why downloads are sow very slow. BTW I am using Elite DSL from AT&T @ 12 Megs per minute so why is Origin acting like its using a 14 Baud dialup modem from the 1980's? I Know I won't get the full speed from anything but mabey AT&T but Origin is rediculasly slow.

I forgot to mention it looks like Origin might be comming to linux. I wouldn't get excited just yet. It looks like it's just indie games funded by kickstarter and such. Probably similar to when Steam started its Green Light program.

After running for several hours using the +all debug switch the only thing it said was: (process:6646): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed. it had this line exactly 2 times. Nothing else showed up.

This only affects running the program in debug mode, select the shortcut then click on "Debug" in the side panel.

Ok. I finished downloading all the EPs for my game. Next time I need to download a game from Origin then I will try this.
