How to use CD-Key for installation

Hello all,

I'm currently using POL 4.2.1 and I'm attempting to install Armies of Exigo from CD's I bought a long time ago.  Game runs fine in Windows.  I just wanted to see if I could get it running in Ubuntu 13.10.  I already tried using Wine 1.6.1 and the installation appeared to go well.  It asked me for my CD-Key and everything.  Had a bit of trouble getting Wine to recognize the second CD, but I found if I just mounted it again (thus indicating AOXCD2 instead of AOXCD1) it worked fine.  After it installed I couldn't get it running.  After reading a bunch of posts and not really understanding what I was reading (mostly they didn't pertain to my specific problem) I found a post saying I should try Play on Linux because it's easier to navigate.  I removed Wine and my Armies of Exigo installation.  Then I reinstalled Wine 1.6.1 (sudo apt-get install wine) and POL (sudo apt-get install playonlinux).

Install fails outright when attempting to install via POL.  I think it's failing because it needs the CD-Key, but it never prompts me for it and I can't figure out how to use it.  CD-Key works because it worked for the install when I tried to use Wine directly.  I'll go ahead and post the error log below:

Hmmm..My apologies, but some of this seems to be repetitive.  I think it's because I attempted to install twice, but I'm afraid I don't know enough about the repetitive bits to delete them and I think it's safer to keep 'em in here.

Please accept my apologies if CD-Keys have been discussed in an earlier post.  I tried to search for them, but I couldn't find anything.  I tried "CD-Keys", "Armies of Exigo install CD-Key", and "how do I use a CD-Key"

Thank you so much for your help!

First, upgrade to the newest version of POL. Its version 4.2.2 on our download page.

Then, copy ALL of the data from both discs to a folder on your drive somewhere, and try to re-run the installation, but this time DONT run the installer from the CD. Run it from where you copied all of that.

A CD-Key is a number that allows you to use it. If you dont have a CD-Key, you cannot play the game. Its for copyright protection.

Okay, thanks. I'll grab the newest version of POL. I have the CD's and I have the CD-Key. This is a legitimate copy of the game. My question was how to use the CD-Key in conjuction with POL's installation routine. When I tried using WINE by itself (no POL front end) it asked for the CD-Key and it worked. I just couldn't get the game running. When I tried installing via POL, install fails right away and it never asked for the CD-Key. That's why I thought the POL install failed. No CD-Key and the install fails just like it would if I were installing via Windows.

We wont support no-CD-Key installs.

The install failed, so that is why you didnt see it.

Do what I said above. That should do it. If the game still crashes, then you most likely need some dependency to get it to work.
