I work on Ubuntu 13.10 and compose my documents using either LyX or TeXStudio. Every now and than I am forced to use MS Office (2010) then when running a Windows VirtualBox I use EqualX as formula editor together with the IguanaTex add-in for PowerPoint. Gives me beautifully typeset equations in ppt.

I did not manage to install either MikTeX or TeX-live in POL (stops without notice or a sad smiley). I did manage to install TeX-live directly in wine (takes 4 hours) and it works (wine cmd pdflatex some.tex gives some.pdf).

What must I do to make the LaTeX tools visible from my POL virtual drive for Office?
Can I set the PATH env-var permanently? Do I have to edit the registry?, How?

(Please do not tell me that Office has a native equation editor because when you have LaTeX docs with a lot of eqns you do not want to redo them in Office at the cost of a physiotherapist treating you for RSI and get worse typesetting too)

Thanks, jw

Hi,
It depends whether those tools were installed in the same virtual drive as Microsoft Office 2010;
If they're in the same virtual drive they should see each other already.
I they aren't they can't see each other.

That is a sad thing. Installing MikTeX (basic) in POL fails with me. I could however install TeXLive in Wine. So yes they are in different locations. Is there anything you can suggest getting MikTeX in POL?

Post install logs so they can be reviewed
Tools > PlayOnLinux debugger > Virtual drives > (MikTex virtual drive name) > Locate this logfile button
