Then how am I able to run it on patch 1.5.12?

Quote from Incarnated

It doesnt matter. Your computer is NOT powerful enough, graphics-wise, to run this game on Linux. For this setup, 512mb is required, you only have 256mb.

This would have been apparent on the first page if we had the install logs or terminal output like we do now. I know you couldnt find it, but this is why we NEED this info.

So yeah. Your graphics card, for whatever reason, cannot handle this game. Try all you want, but we cant do much to help you. As you can see, we have tried everything, including OS reinstall, and its still having issues. Its your computer that wont let it run. Period. Software is not the problem.

Again, I still dont know how you missed the big error that pops up that says "You do not have enough video memory to run this game"....

What do you mean run it? I thought you said that every time you run it, it crashes? There is information being left out, sir. Its making it very hard to troubleshoot.

hmm weird. I don't know how i'm not seeing it either i also did a manual just to make sure... still not seeing it maybe ill just have to go back to windows to enjoy the game... It runs almost perfect on Windows but i'm thinking thats because windows makes up some things to help out right?

If it runs on that version, then why arent you running that version? Im seriously confused about what you have done, what you are doing, and what you arent posting about whats going on.

Ohh i'm sorry i thought it was obvious from the header. My computer can run GW2 with the patch 1.5.12 installed and up on wine with the arugment -dx9single. Once I go up any patches I run into this problem where I can't open without it freezing?

Also the reason why I really enjoy linux/ubuntu > Windows.

No. A manual install will NOT ask you those questions. Only the script will. The script will ALWAYS ASK FOR VIDEO MEM SIZE. Its IMPOSSIBLE to go around it, unless you arent using the script or you downloaded the script and are messing with it. Like, its literally impossible. The WHOLE script would fail if it didnt meet that step. Its how its designed.

I just ran it a couplemore times. Asks EVERY time.

Linux is not Windows. The fact that it runs fine on windows doesnt matter. Its a windows game. Its supposed to.

This script is also in BETA status, so its not always going to work. But the window asking about your video memory pops up every single time.

If you have a cell phone or something, record the install, from a fresh virtual drive, using PlayOnLinux -> Install -> Guild Wars 2 -> install

and record a video of you installing the game. Id like to see where its not popping up, as you must be skipping it or circumventing it somehow.

Dude. Then use that version.... Why do you need newer versions of wine if the other works so well? This is NOT a bug, and has really wasted both of our time here...

Because things are still broken in this patch... Unlike where 1.5.28 it is not broken

and please, explain WHY you are "going up patches". If it works with one version of Wine, use THAT VERSION.

I still dont believe that you arent seeing the window asking about video memory. The ONLY 2 possible ways are:

1: You are doing a manual install (You need the script for this game to install correctly)

2: You are modifying the installer or something before you install it.

Thats it.

Well i'm not. Fresh everything it does not ask me. I'm sorry for wasting your time but I was just looking for help on something that was not making sense.

Apparently it is broken, because it freezes your system..... Know why? You are running LESS video memory than what is needed, and Ill bet that version of Wine is more strict about video memory, probably because of things like this.

DO NOT create a virtual drive beforehand
DO NOT change anything about the installer.

ONLY DO THIS:

Open PlayOnLinux
Click INSTALL at the top
in the search bar, pick Guild Wars 2
click the install button at the bottom right of installer window.

Film the WHOLE install, from the time you start PlayOnLinux, alllll the way through the install, through the end of the install, and when you start the game. I need to see it start-to-finish if we are going to figure this out.

Its not my time only. Its yours as well.

This thread is so long, because things kept getting left out, 2 pages later new facts come up, and when we finally see the install log, it shows multiple errors, all causes of the game not working.

Im not trying to be a jerk. Im trying to help. When things are left out, altered, or in some way doctored before they are presented to us, it makes it SO hard to figure out whats wrong.

Do this, exactly as stated:

DO NOT change anything about the installer.

Click INSTALL at the top
in the search bar, pick Guild Wars 2
click the install button at the bottom right of installer window.

Im very curious to see how you arent getting a MANDATORY message regarding this, because it does NOT get skipped.

You know from what you are saying its just plain obvious it's not going to work. I was just hoping it would and was desperate to try anything.

Download the game directly from the website, and then try to run the install script again, but this time, when asked if you want download it or whatever, choose local file or local, and point it to the GW2 file you downloaded. Lets see if that makes a difference.

I feel like an asshole. I didnt even see that part. The script is SUPPOSED to ask there as well, but it skips it.

yeah. Just download the game using your normal web browser, and when it finishes, run the installer again, and choose "USE A SETUP FILE IN MY COMPUTER". click next, and pick out the file you downloaded. Lets see if this helps.

I actually just ran the installer, and chose DOWNLOAD, though it did not ask me about the size of my memory, it STILL shows an error that says:

"Your video card does not have enough memory!
It might prevent the game from work"

I can verify this on my system, so while it doesnt ask about your memory, the script STILL does toss up an error. This you for sure must have just skipped over.
