OverDrive Media Console

It skips forward on unpausing.

Using POL w/ Wine version 1.7.4 (current as of this post) and using the "Library" POL_Install_wmp10 (Install Windows Media Player 10) it works fairly well.

Things that work: It downloads, plays mp3 audiobooks, and has a bookmark manager.

Things that don't work: Upgrading security on the WMP10, also when unpausing it skips forward.  It freezes up every hour or so, but I just xkill it and start it again. There's too much searching around for where I stopped, but it's managable.

What I haven't tested yet: PDFs, returning media, file transfers or CD burning.

Also haven't tested file transfers or CD burning.

Did you install it via POL or Wine? Im just curious how it works for you and what you had to do to get it installed. :)

It works fairly well. The skipping forward problem is a hassle and it crashes occasionally. POL was a lot easier than other install attempts I've made, also more successful.
Mostly I just downloaded the file from http://omc.overdrive.com/windows.php and installed it manually via POL There were some library dependancies that I found on wineHQ (still looking that up) but as I already had all those installed it didn't occur to me to list that at the time.

P.S. I almost forgot an important library is POL_Install_tahoma

Ah. ok. Yeah. Isnt it funny how not having a damn font can stop a program dead in its tracks? lol

Yep, you'd think you could just use a different font, but no.

BTW I have the habit of retconning my posts rather than posting a redaction. Is that alright or is that bad nettiquette?

Yeah. Im sure there is a specific reason for that, in terms of how Windows games are developed. I know There are other compatible fonts for other fonts, but yeah. I was always a little in the grey about why its so picky. Linux/X doesnt care, as most of the time it will use whatever font the user/theme chose. Though, I have to imagine that the font requirements are hardcoded into the game itself or something like that. lol

I imagine it has something to do with the homogeneity. McDonald's has a motto ~"a person who comes into a McDonald's knows what to expect. Every McDonald's provides the same experience." I imagine it's something like that. Also sometimes a weird font will overlap other stuff.

Can't get it to play WMA files. Anyone know a fix for that? It's just a windows media player issue. WMP 10 won't do a security upgrade for OverDrive and I can't see to find settings for WMP 11. Will be trying that tho.

Install the wmpcodes into your virtual drive.

PlayOnLinux -> Configure -> select the virtual drive you are aiming at -> Install Components tab -> wmpcodecs

That should do it.
