How do I tell wine to set DNSAPI.dll to built in, in the script?

Downloading Star Trek Online right now. 7 Gigs will take a few hours with my internet connection.

Downloaded!
I just realized this is the same developer that does Neverwinter.
It ran perfectly in PlayOnLinux so Star Trek Online should run fine too.
Waiting for it to load, you are right, it does take a long time to finally launch.

Runs Great first time!
I installed these libraries:
  • Internet Explorer 8 (IE8)
  • d3dx9
  • corefonts
It took about 15 minutes to get a login screen, not sure why, but Neverwinter is the same way.
Make sure to set Windows Version to Windows XP otherwise IE8 won't install.

I'm going to do some testing and try installing Firefox and setting it for the default browser.
I'm sick of IE8 and don't even use it in Windows anymore.

Why would you do that since I obviously already know that and I asked how to do it in the script?

Ugh. I should have thought to check for a neverwinter script. I could have just used the same script as an example. Lol

I just did a search for Neverwinter and could not find a script. Where did you find the script?
booman Samedi 10 Aoüt 2013 à 20:50

I did a manual installation.
I always do...
Here follow my step-by-step guide on installing Neverwinter Guide
Its practically the same for Star Trek Online.

But when I closed Star Trek Online it crashed wine and I had to kill the processes.

Guess what, Start Trek Online started way faster the 2nd time I launched it! Awesome!

I also installed Windows Firefox and set as default browser, but not sure if it made any difference

I'm not going to play much because I am dedicated to a few other games right now.
I just wanted to test that it works in Linux... thanks for the invite though

After I see your post then I will try to figure out a script as it's nice to have a script for each game. That way players only have to run the script and don't have to read some install guide before they can install there game. Also the script can test for specific information to see which of several setups works best for a certain user. If then routines for several different install methods like Cd, local file, Steam or download.

Awesome, that would be perfect!
As I've said to DJ... the only reason I stick to manual installations is because a lot of scripts don't seem to be updated with newer versions of Wine and libraries. Then they fail. So I have found that manual installations has a larger success rate.
Not to mention that a failing script doesn't really give you a clue why it fails. But learning how to manual install helps the user to learn a bit of the back-end and troubleshoot.
Basically, they will know the basics of PlayOnLinux and will be able to tell us what they did when they installed.

I think this is the reason why a lot of posters here don't really give us all the info on their version of Wine, POL, libraries, patches ect.. because they have no idea...
