I did what you said in the order you said. When I create the VD Wine says it could not get gecko later it says something about incorect parametors.

steve7233@steve7233-HP-Pavilion-dv6-Notebook-PC:~$ rm -rf ~/.PlayOnLinux

It never seems to do anything, just sits there like its waiting for something so it can finish.

Why did it double post?

POL says Microsoft fonts arn't installed. Does this sound like am proper restart?

Its ok. lol. double posts happen. I do it frequently. :)

It only takes a moment to do that. We just removed the whole POL folder.

Now, just run playonlinux from a terminal, and make sure that nothing else is using your internet connection except POL. That may help the downloads go through.

How can I send a snapshot of my screen so you can see the Gecko problem when creating a new VD even after running that command: rm -rf ~/.PlayOnLinux? I already ran KSnapshot. I just need to know where to send it.

ok. So, you can upload it to a website like flikr or something, and just shoot us the link. That actually would help.

If you ran rm -rf ~/.PlayOnLinux then when you started POL the next time, it should have prompted you to download fonts and all of that jazz just like the first time you started it.

Also, post up the FULL debug output again, as we will need that to troubleshoot.

There is no debug output as I created the vd manually and cancled  after geting the screen shot. I was creating it using wine 1.1.43. If some one would add a Steam install option I could use the script. I have tried using the script but it incists on using the cd or dvd and no other install option is allowed, so I have to install using the manual install.

Then you have to wait on the steam feature to be added by the originator of the script.

This is why I asked over and over if you were installing it from the script correctly, but this now make sense. If you check your thread where you asked for a steam option on this script, the scripter said that they would be more than happy to, and be patient.

Even if I use the system default wine it still gives me the Gecko failure.

Then there might be something wrong with your system stopping that from downloading.

Yea /boot ran out of space so, .confifig couldn't configure the Linux Kernal properly and that probley means the wine gecko couldn't be cofigured properly which is probably why the wine gecko failed to install. That mens no http and thus no Steam thus no game. I have to make more space on /boot then redo Grub Config then update and upgrade the system then delete the VD then rerun the POL script. Actually its quit easy to understand once you know the root problem.

That makes no sense at all. /boot has nothing to do with where gecko and all of that gets installed.

Are you sure you dont mean "/", as in root, as in your whole hard drive? And not just "/boot/"?

That should never happen unless you are setting these things yourself, so simply let the defaults go with the install. The only things that I create when installing a Linux system are a partition for /, and a swap partition that is roughly the size of my RAM (Double if the drive is big enough). That should be all of the partitioning that you need. I still also recommend using an LTS version of Linux (12.04.x), but that part is up to you. I like reliability over experimental package combos. :)
