And I am sure others are curious as well. So, POL devs. Any sneak peaks or information on new features we can expect in version 5 of PlayOnLinux? :)

From what I understand top priority is cleaner code.

I remember Quentin speaking about that on IRC. Any graphical changes, or more debug/clearer debug stuff? Are you guys rewriting it from the ground up?

I don't know if this is asking too much... 1. short description of each library (what its for or what it does) 2. checkmark for the libraries that are already installed (like winetricks) 3. separate library for windows service pack 3 4. Internet Explorer 9? 5. offline manual installs, installer automatically connects to internet to update scripts. It would be nice to install a game without internet from the installation screen.

You can do that, but you need to download gigabytes of files to do offline installs. Its not economically sound.

no I understand that cause I already have done that in the past. you got a point because what if I try to install a game and it needs a specific library that I don't have? hmmm... I have backed up most of the standard libraries that I use over and over, then copied them to my chromebook with ChrUbuntu on it. Sometimes I'm wanting to install a game, but don't have internet. Guess I could just start with Configure/Add/Wine version/Libraries/etc. That would allow me to install a game offline, I think

Yeah, i mean, there are just too many reg files, dependencies, service packs, etc etc etc etc to cover every single one. It would take up too much space and if you miss one, it would be annoying. It CAN be done, but its more of a pain than blessing. lol

yeah, it makes sense. I already have 2 gigs of files in "resources" no biggie though, makes installing libraries much faster because I don't have to download them again. What do you think about my other silly feature ideas?

I dig 'em. I think they are good ideas. IE9 is more of a "someone needs to write a script for it". All POL functions are scripts just like the application installers, so someone would just need to write a good script that installs it. Though, would we really need it? What applications need IE9? Most of the time, we just install IE to get some of the internet/networking components installed.

As soon as IE9 will work under Wine, that is. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=25

I just re-read the topic of your post and realized I read it wrong... you are asking the Devs what the new features are... I thought you were asking member what features they would like to see in the new release... Ha Ha Ha :) sorry about that, must have some dyslexia kicking in
