I knew it! Here is the problem, just like on my computer:

X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 800x600x32

Citer

Its gotta be that videon.con for the default profile...

I may have to "break down" and try to install it again.
Once we get past this video problem it should launch just fine.. .geesh!!!

Now when you changed the

game.setGameDisplayMode 1024 768 32 0

Citer

I'm guessing you didn't put the "x" between the resolution like in the error correct?
The game launcher must have done that.
I almost wonder if we could create the video.con and default folder ourselves and fool the game?

so what your saying is i should make it say this

game.setGameDisplayMode 1024x768 32 0

cause thats what mine says
booman Lundi 10 Juin 2013 à 23:57

without the "x"
just leave a space like this:

game.setGameDisplayMode 1024 768 32 0

Citer

if that doesn't work, then we'll create the other video.con ourselves.

perfect, then you did everything right.
Is BF2 able to launch?

No problem! I had to go through all the same steps. If we can just get it to launch the first time, then I think we'll have it.

By the way, when you re-installed again, did you remember to select Wine 1.5.25 again from the PlayOnLinux configure?

Also, did you patch it again?

I recommend not patching until we run it successfully at least once.

Got it, I'm guessing that you copied all of the CD's into a folder on your desktop, correct?

booman Mardi 11 Juin 2013 à 0:34

Ok, that is DVD then. Good, that simplifies things. I had one of those 5-Disk copies and had to copy every disk to a folder on the desktop.

Go ahead with another install, and do the video.con edit
Don't patch yet and don't forget the virtual desktop has to match the same resolution you entered in video.con

If it still refuses to launch, we can try creating the other video.con in your documents Battlefield 2 folder

whoa, definitely need that one, I havn't even heard of that one. Go ahead and install the whole game from scratch with the DVD.

use the PlayOnLinux script for now and you can change to Wine 1.5.25 after its done.
Let me know when its done installing
