First post in here:

Useing Ubuntu 13 last version and playonlinux last and wine also 15.3

Laptop dell vostro 1720.the game worked on windows 8,before i installed Linux.

Useing on my linux the 310 Nvidea drives.Ill try changeing the default, thou i dont think this will help, will update after try.

update: well ive changed my default Linux drivers to the Nouvea ones.game still crushes.
the error messages on the display driver dissapered, but the game still crush.
got this bug after the change:

 Running wine-1.5.30-1.5.30-1 CoJGunslinger.exe (Working directory : /home/darcek/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/gun/drive_c/Games/Call of Juarez - Gunslinger)
err:module:import_dll Library XAPOFX1_5.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\\\Games\\\\Call of Juarez - Gunslinger\\\\CoJGunslinger.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\\\Games\\\\Call of Juarez - Gunslinger\\\\CoJGunslinger.exe" failed, status c0000135

I got this following message from the debugger:

err:winediag:xrandr12_init_modes Broken NVIDIA RandR detected, falling back to RandR 1.0. Please consider using the Nouveau driver instead.
err:module:import_dll Library XAPOFX1_5.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\\\Games\\\\Call of Juarez - Gunslinger\\\\CoJGunslinger.exe") not found

question is how do i use Nouveau driver? does this points to the Linux driver itself or some add on i have to enable in playonlinux?

the dll file i found was a part of the directx.i have installed version 9.mayby another version is better?

any other ideas will be welcomed

thanks in advance

Sounds like you need the newest nvidia drivers from the website. Its stating that you dont have xrandr 1.2 support. Dont use the Nouvea drivers. You need the proprietary ones for gaming.

im not sure what XAPOFX1_5.dll is, but it looks as though your game cannot find it.

I will download the latest drivers as you've suggested.
As for that file, ive googled it and it was said its a part of the direct x package.
since ive installed directx9 haven't got a clue why that particular file haven't been found.
maybe different version contains it?

Hmmmm. Im not sure. I do not know if directx package functions include that. Petch will know, but I will look into it.

Hi,
I must admit I never heard of it before, but it's part of xact component.
It's an audio component, so it's unrelated to your main issue, though.

I have updated my driver to the latest 319 driver.
That has nerfed the nvidea crush errors.
as for Petch comment all i can say is WOOT! actually installing xact proceed me to the next level so to speak lol.
I got a black screen! was all excited, though the game was going up,but it stayed like that..
checked the debugger and got these messages now:

fixme:wbemprox:enum_class_object_Next timeout not supported
fixme:d3d:wined3d_swapchain_set_gamma_ramp Ignoring flags 0x1.
fixme:win:GetWindowPlacement not supported on other process window 0x10030

I tried using the latest d3d wine version but that didn't help.tried installing the d3d compiler also same.
any idea how to tackle these new set of errors?

Thanks a bunch for all the help again!

Im not sure. gamma is colour or brightness or something like that. Glad we are making progress, though.
