Script can't find CD?

Hi,
I've tried to install this game with Tharvik's script and it's not working. First PoM will download and install MONO. (It already downloaded WINE 1.5.11.) When it asks me to insert the CD in to the drive and I do, I then click "NEXT." But then the script complains that it cannot find the CD. This is on a Mac running Mountain Lion. Any ideas?

If I try to use PoM to run Setup.exe, WINE simply crashes.

Yeah. Wine 1.5.x has issues recognizing discs. Im not sure what the solution is, although I know that there are some work-arounds.

You know, I'm not sure why Tharvik's script calls for 1.5.x. Let me try it with the system WINE and see what happens.

System wine is not usually recommended. If you are trying to run the system wine (which is probably 1.4.1) then you should install that version into POL using:

Tools -> Manage wine versions

I think I may have found the problem. The version I'm using is a "Limited Edition" one and the documentation in the jewel box of the CD says something about it being a "demo" and "OEM" version and not the full version of the game. So that's probably the issue.

I'll add that the game will install and run under Crossover and ordinary WINE... I'm not sure what's up with that.

It must be the way that crossover is handling the install. The only difference between a regular wine install and using POL is that POL uses scripts that take care of dependencies and prefix creation and all of that, whereas with Wine, you would have to do it by hand, if it were needed (Thats where winetricks comes in handy for regular wine installs).

Crossover uses a proprietary engine thats heavily based off of the code from Wine. From what I understand, they modify it somewhat (If im not mistaken, one of the head devs for the Wine Project is also an employee/head dev with crossover. I could be wrong, though.)
