Hello! I'm on 64 bit Linux Mint 14 cinnamon. Every time I try to manually install something the installer crashes. Thanks in advance. This is the error I get:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code (0x0040a1c1).

Hi,

System information:
Wine build: wine-1.4.1
Platform: i386 (WOW64)
Host system: Linux
Host version: 3.5.0-17-generic

Have you tried with a 32bit Wine version?

Can you help me figure out how to do this?
I tried
export WINEARCH=win32
winecfg
And I got this:
wine: WINEARCH set to win32 but '/home/adrien/.wine' is a 64-bit installation.

I was under the impression that the version of wine in the ubuntu repo supported both win32 and win64.

Disregard my previous post I figured out what I was doing wrong. I just tried running wine wineboot and I get the following error:

Could this have something to do with my issue?

No, this is unrelated.

Virtual drives ("prefixes" in Wine slang) cannot be converted between 32 and 64bit once created (this is a limitation of Wine).
So if you want a 32bit prefix, you either have to remove existing 64bit ~/.wine, or create another one next to it with $WINEPREFIX.

Ok thanks, good to know. So I created a new prefix and did:
export WINEARCH=win32
wine wineboot
The error is still the same. It still says
System information:
Wine build: wine-1.4.1
Platform: i386 (WOW64)
Host system: Linux
Host version: 3.5.0-17-generic

which I assumes means it's still 64. What could I be doing wrong?

Use PlayOnLinux ? :p
So you can easily install 32bit versions of Wine

Good thinking. Well I still have the same error, but it does say
System information:
Wine build: wine-1.4
Platform: i386
Host system: Linux
Host version: 3.5.0-17-generic

now.
