In this thread, let's put together our setups to see if there's a nominator that sticks out.

uname -a:
Linux a2430 3.5.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 19 10:26:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

My setup is Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, but been using 12.04 64bit before.
Playonlinux v 4.1.8 with Wine version 1.5.5-DiabloIII_v3 64bit
Havent change anything within this wine-setup besides screen-resolution and so it creates a virtual desktop so my second screen doesnt turn of while starting diablo3.

Here's mine.

uname -a
Linux hoth 3.5.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 19 10:26:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

12.10 64bit currently, but I used 12.04 64bit until 12.10 came out. I think I upgraded the friday after it was released.

PoL v4.1.8 currently, but I don't know what I was using in 12.04

Wine version 1.5.10.

I never used the setarch or pthreads fixes on 12.10, but I think I had the pthreads on on 12.04, just not the setarch one.

Linux NEMESIS 3.2.0-33-generic-pae #52-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 18 16:39:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I have Ubuntu 12.04 32bit (precise) since the beginning.
PoL v 4.1.8 with wine bottle 1.5.5-DiabloIII_v3 - since the beginning as well.
I did some experiments with fixes (like for two days), because of jitter in graphics in some locations, but I gave up on them, as they did not bring any improvement.

Linux 3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:31:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Laptop with Nvidia Optimus, i tried several configurations, including PoL 4.1.8 with 1.5.5-DiabloIII_v3 wineprefix and wine 1.5.16. The game didn't run smoothly, as Nvidia linux drivers doesn't support Optimus yet.

Btw, it's too late, my 2 Diablo III account have been suspended.

Edit : Furthermore, we try to pinpoint the issue that would make us banned.

About the version of both POL and Wine, this POL version is the default proposed by Ubuntu and about Wine release, I haven't installed by myself (POL install it automatic ?)

i have ubuntu also, but maybe we got ban because we use this commend "echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope"?

I'm banned since last friday (November 2), playing on the EU server.
I played half on wine, half on Windows 7 (depending on what system is running when I want to play).

I called the french Blizzard customer service, and the operator said me that the check period for my account was from 14 to 28 october. I think this could be nearly the same period for each account banned the same day. This could allow you to be more precise if you have had some changes in your configuration since the beginning ;)

I don't have my computer here (i'll go back home on friday), so I will edit to be more precise this week-end.
I run XUbuntu 12.04 on kernel 3.4, 64 bits.
I use PlayOnLinux 4.1.8, and Diablo III is installed with the default PoL script, using wine 1.5.5-DiabloIII_v3, 32 bits.

I've heard that Blizzard's anti-cheat system could crash when running on wine with more than 4 GB of ram.
I personnally have 8 GB of ram.

Reposting from the thread I started on this issue:
I'm sorry to bring this back up, but I wanted it to be more visible. I already posted here: http://www.playonmac.com/en/topic-9608-Diablo_3_and_Blizzard_bans.html.

For any of you that are wondering, yes this is real, it's true, and it's still a problem. Here's what my setup looks like:

Clevo P180HM Laptop
ATI Radeon 6990m (Running version 9.00.11 drivers)
Kubuntu 12.10 64 bit (also played for a couple of days on Kubuntu 12.4)
KDE 4.9.1
Intel Core i7-2670QM
12 GB of ram
128 GB SSD + 500 GB spindle drive
Diablo 3 is installed in a 32bit wine bottle
Wine version is 1.5.5-Diablo3-v3
Installed and managed by PlayOnLinux

I was banned two nights ago, and I *swear* there was no cheating involved. I know I'm not getting my account back, and that's cool. As I posted on the other page I had only been playing for a week and a half, and I only paid $10 for the client at Toys R Us...well...Best Buy really, but only because I made them price match it.

The thing is, I want to play this game, and I want to play it in Linux. I'll go buy another copy if I can be reasonably sure that I won't just get banned again for no reason.

If you'd had a similar experience, or you can help, please post here.

Thanks!
