Hellow,
I recently instaled wine and I then instlaed 4.1.8 of Playonlinux. I am runing Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon and I never have been able to get the Sims 3 to work. I just have the base game and it installed, but it gave me the error message, but it finished anyway. I then clicked on the desktop icons sevral times and each time it would lag and then show the smile face error message. I tried the debug and the same thing happend. I am using a oldish computer that once ran a 64-bit Windows Vista and I then instaled mint on a new hard drive so I dought that could be a problem. I have no configureation expireance with playonlinux and I will love if someone can give me real answers to my problem.

The sims 3 works out of the box with wine 1.5, no need for palyonlinux. Also, you won't be able to play the game on linux with the TS3.exe file that it comes with (even though you bought the game and its completely legitamate). In order to get around this you have to replace the TS3.exe file in the sims3 game bin with a cracked version of the TS3.exe file and open the program through there (not the general icon or the starter). I'm sure if you google it there will be somewhere that tells you how to do that.
