Hello all, I am just looking for some clarification here...

I am running openSUSE 12.2 and I have wine-1.5.6 installed on my pc. When I run PlayOnLinux, is it using wine-1.5.6, because that is what is installed on my computer?

I also found the "manage wine versions" in the main screen of the GUI for POL. What is this about? It only goes up to wine-1.3.31 on my computer.

If this is in the documentation, I could not find it, but feel free to point me to the right page.

Thanks,
G.O.

Hi,
No, one benefit of PlayOnLinux is to ease the management of several virtual Wine environments, each with its own version of Wine; And then on top of that it comes with an easy way to install any release of Wine from the last 5 years or so (am I right), plus custom patched ones, so that installation scripts can create the environments that work best (or even one that works!) for each application or game.

Having a system Wine in its dependencies has several uses, it's a way to make sure that common Wine utilities, and most of the libraries necessary to make Wine run, are installed; But it in no way restricts PlayOnLinux to use the system version only.
