I'm trying to get Dragon Age II running through Steam.

Method: I install Steam and download/install DA2. I can get Dragon Age II to start, select a
character type and watch the intro videos (sometimes they lag out and
die) and then poof it freezes.

Ubuntu 12.04

$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 5670
OpenGL version string: 4.2.11627 Compatibility Profile Context

Wine Version 1.3.37

Running in debug mode, I see this notice pop up:

err:wgl:is_extension_supported No OpenGL extensions found, check if your OpenGL setup is correct!

There are a number of other errors that seem consequential only to the machinations of steam, so I will ignore them (WinHttpGetProxyForUrl failed 12178)

When I start Dragon Age 2 from within Steam:

err:ole:CoInitializeEx Attempt to change threading model of this apartment from apartment threaded to multi-threaded
err:quartz:GetClassMediaFile Media class not found

Followed by a number of these when I click into play the game:

fixme:d3d:resource_check_usage Unhandled usage flags 0x8.
