What should I expect?

Hello guys,

first, let me tell you that I really appreciate the work you do. I just stumbled across PlayOnMac on a friends advice and so far I'm really pleased how well some games work.

What I find a bit confusing otoh is using the steam installation. Most of the games I own were bought in steam, so if could migrate my steam games I really would not need a windows partition anymore.

That being said, I managed to install and play "The binding of Isaac" and start it from steam. Then I tried Super monday night combat, I click play and for a short moment, a window appears and disappears again. Should I expect this? Can I do something to prevent this?

Thanks!

I tried a bunch of Steam games myself. Not every game works, which is sad. I also would like to know if there is anything we can do, to make more Steam Games playable. Heres a list of games i tried:

- Half Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift
Works perfectly

- Half Life: Source
White Screen at startup, just wait a bit.
The game runs perfectly after that

- Nation Red
Just White Screen and Sound. Unplayable :(

- Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition
Game itself runs smooth. But the Textures flicker and the mouse is stuck in game. In this form: Unplayable

- Alien Swarm
Runs Perfectly

- Lumines
Major Graphical Issues. Unplayable

- Serious Sam HD
Runs very smooth, but mouse is buggy in open areas. Makes playing annoying since its hard to aim sometimes-

- Gothic 2 Gold Edition
Game Crashes right before entering the main menu - Unplayable

- Titan Quest
Cannot find Steam. Wont Start.

- Painkiller Redemption
Game won't Start. (Needs at least Service Pack 2)

Sometimes you might want to try

Configure -> wine -> configure wine -> display -> change the state of the box "allow window manager to control the windows"

i played a little with with the config and made a bit of progress. i changed the windows Version to Windows 7, now Painkiller starts and runs very smooth. But the mouse is so buggy that its unplayable. Next thing i did, was setting the dxd9_40 and dxd9_36 to native.
Also changed the Wine Version from 1.3.37 to 1.50

Now Nation Red and Gothic 3 FG start without any graphical Issues but again the mouse is buggy.
This must be fixable, since i saw other Wrappers running a retail Version of Gothic without any Mouse Problems.
