I was able to get to log in following the install guide posted above me.

However, the server is unreachable:

"Starting authintication procss. Waiting for server..."

"Did not recieve a response from the server; retrying. (attempt n)"

Any help on what's causing this?

YASUO UPDATE WORKING

OKAY SO I WAS ABLE TO LAUNCH THE GAME AND HAD NO PROBLEMS OPENING THE IN-GAME SHOP @-@

Bodhi Linux 32-bit
3GB DDR1 Ram
128 MB AMD ATI Radeon 9800 series graphics card
Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz Processor

Quote from SonicMaster7773

Wow an ATI 9800!!??  Thats awesome!  I still have one of those, but its gathering dust.
How the heck did you get the store to work?
I tried LoL this week and it updates and launches just fine, but still crashes when I click the Store.  I have yet to figure that one out.

As for the "Starting authentication process. Waiting for server..."
I'm pretty sure that has to do with dbghelp.dll

I was able to login setting "peer to peer" to disabled.
But I don't know if that is REALLY what fixed it.

Thanks, man. I'll look into dbghelp.dll when I get off work.

Okay, I checked in ./dosdevices/c:/windows/system32 and dbghelp.dll is there. Is there any chance it's the wrong version? I'm using 32-bit wine, so it shouldn't be. I tried bypassing it, but it doesn't let me log in if I do that.

Any ideas?

I just installed Mint 16 64-bit this morning and plan to give League of Legends a try this weekend.
I'll let you know if my guide stands up to the test

Wine version: 1.7-LeagueOfLegends

Distribution: Ubuntu

Distribution version: 13.10 (Saucy)

Graphics card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT755M 2GB

Graphics card driver: Not sure how to determine this, it's a fresh install of Ubuntu, so whatever the default is

Comments: Running on a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p, works fine with only one video card, crashes on game start with the second video card in the Ultrabay. Game installs fine by way of the POL installer. Had to change my region to NA, defaulted to EUW for some reason, no big deal. Once in the game would start but on loading the game it would crash. Determined to be a problem with SLI, so removed second video card from Ultrabay. Game now started fine, but no champions on loading screen, and once in-game there were lots of graphical issues. Dialogue boxes had bright red background, no terrain or character models would display, save for an outline when hovered. Determined to be a texture problem caused by lack of s3tc support. Added "export force_s3tc_enable=true" to the miscellaneous tab in POL configuration for LoL. Game now displays and runs correctly. Only problem at this point seems to be the out-of-game shop (for runes, champs, skins, etc.). Rune pages and masteries can be edited no problem. Mainly I wanted to get the "export force_s3tc_enable=true" information out there for others to try. Any advice on getting the shop to work would be great, but game plays fine otherwise.

EDIT: Noticed there was some talk about the in-game shop having problems, so I just wanted to say it works fine with the setup I've described here.

EDIT2: Framerates weren't very good, on the advice of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/HybridGraphics I went ahead and installed nvidia-319 and nvidia-prime, but then had video problems on reboot. So I uninstalled nvidia-prime, leaving just nvidia-319. Framerates are up, and he game is now working at a much higher framerate, noteably with BOTH VIDEO CARDS, so that's awesome.

What is the current state of LoL for PlayOnLinux? Is it working for anyone presently? For me, using Wine 1.7 it crashes at launcher. Using an old guide I tried to use some recommended older versions of Wine (like 1.5-LoLStore), and it complains about my card not supporting PixelShader 2.0 (yeah, right.) If anyone does have this working, I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.

PS: GPU is an AMD Radeon 7570 if that's important. Probably isn't since I can't even get past the launcher.

Hahaha sorry, I have been extremely busy since I posted my fixes. I am back on my good old windows XP system.  To be honest, I am not sure how I got the store to work. Everything in my guide is EXACTLY what I did. I have no idea if it works up to the most recent Vel'Koz info update, but theoretically speaking, it should still allow you to make the game run in that way(Don't quote me on that, I am not the all-knowing tech god) But yeah, that Graphics card is just what my mom got the pc with, haven't run into anything else compatible with it. When you meant the store, did you mean where you spend IP and RP? Because I wasn't able to find a fix for that, just the in-game item shop had zero issues.

@monban- what way did you install it? seems like you had it working fine back in January, is it still usable now? If so, you may be able to help these others.

****EDIT****
Pretty sure the in-game shop fix came from TuxLoL.

Yeah, I have read the TuxLoL will fix the store in Linux, but you have to patch it every time you play the game. Not exactly a permanent fix.

Sorry to hear you are back in XP. Don't forget Microsoft won't be supporting XP coming this May

Every time you play? Hmmm... They have been having constant updates lately. You should only have to patch it after each update, so it is a good idea to run and ensure all updates are done, if any, then make sure to patch using TuxLoL. On the other hand, at least it DOES fix it for those who wish to play it :D I still am unable to find a permanent fix, so for now it should do the trick.

And heh, don't count me out just yet, I just installed Lubuntu alongside my XP install. And this PC has a way better graphics card than that ATI 9800 and runs DDR2 RAM. I plan to try installing sometime today, hopefully without problems.

Oh, didn't realize it was only after an update. That's much better.

Since an update of LOL at the beginning of this year that made login impossible, i am back to wine version 1.5.24-LeagueOfLegendsShop. On every map the icon and text size is normal and i don't have any crashs when opening the ingame shop. The only issue have are some red icons within the ingame shop, but this doesn't matter to me.

OS: Linux Mint 13 64-bit

PS: After a Mint update a few months ago (i think it was a backport from Mint 16 concerning the internal sound system) i had no ingame sound. Installing libasound2-plugins:i386 helped.

Mint 17 was just released, I'm installing it this weekend, so maybe they have worked out these pulseaudio sound issues. I seriously never had sound problems with sounds in Mint 13 and 14. It wasn't until Mint 16 that I started having issues.

Hello, new guy here

I am using Linux Mint 17 64-bit Cinnamon with PoL 4.2.2
I have a dual core AMD athalon II.
I followed Booman's guide for how to install LoL and the installation went fine. When ever I try and run it though the launcher logo pops up and then the actual launcher window, but the window is all black. The links still work because i can still click them and I can close the window by clicking in the top right corner but i cant figure out why the window is black. I tried waiting some amount of time but it didn't help either.

What video card/chip are you using to play games? Can you play any other games?

Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 GPU
Multi-VGA output support : HDMI/DVI/RGB ports
- Supports HDMI with max. resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
- Supports DVI with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz
- Supports RGB with max. resolution 2048 x 1536 @ 85 Hz
Maximum shared memory of 1024 MB.

I tried running LoL in debug mode after I posted and I got a huge error file with this as the main error that keeps repeating:

err:d3d:load_numbered_arrays >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from Loading numbered arrays @ state.c / 4240
err:d3d:unload_numbered_array >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glDisableVertexAttribArrayARB(reg) @ state.c / 4049

the rest of the error messages can be found here: http://pastebin.com/CdKGRTnV

I was able to run 0 A.D. with the same graphics set-up (actually I was using Mint 16 at the time, i just upgraded) albeit it was a little slow.

p.s. Thanks for the guide it was really useful and the most comprehensive one that I have found so far.

Looks like you will need to install the AMD proprietary drivers and the 32-bit libraries for Mint. So you are in Mint 17 correct?
Go to Menu, then Administration and look for "Additional Drivers"
You should see AMD FGLRX proprietary drivers on the list.
If its there, then install them.

The 32-bit libraries are more complicated because the package "ia32-libs" no longer existing for Ubuntu 13 and later. Mint 16 and Mint 17 inherited this but you can still look for them and try to install them.

After you do both of those, reboot and try launching LoL again. Try 0A.D. again too, I bet it will be faster.

Warning: AMD drivers are known to not work or cause problems/low FPS in games.

When I go to my Administration tab I don't see any Additional Drivers option. I tried going to Driver Manager but I had nothing to choose from there either. Do I need to install this via the Software manager or in the terminal?

I couldn't find anything from ia32-libs either.

Could you possibly be a bit more specific about how to get the two things. Sorry, but thanks for all the help so far :D

And it is Mint 17.

booman Thursday 5 June 2014 at 22:27

Yeah, I was going from memory :)
Driver Manager should be the correct area. Are you in Mint or Ubuntu? Earlier you mentioned Ubuntu 14.04
There is Debian instructions here: wiki.debian.org
Install at your own risk of course. I've never done this in Debian, Mint or Ubuntu, so I'm not sure if it will help or make things worse.
Ubuntu instructions here:
Ubuntu AMD drivers

I'm guessing the drivers don't appear in Driver Manager because its an old video chip that is no longer supported.

Here is the multi-arch support for Ubuntu and it should install 32-bit libraries: Ubuntu Multi-Arch

I don't really have a step-by-step for installing these, but you can search online. I'm sure lots of people are having the same problem with drivers and 32-bit libraries.
