So I had recently gotten into Linux (very new sorry)
I have owned steam and boughten steam games for years and after switching to Ubuntu I was avid to find a way to play my Steam games on my Ubuntu 11.10.
So I downloaded POL and then got Steam. Now that I have downloaded Dota2 through steam how can I make it work. I load into the game yet all the menus do not work. I have C++ installed Mono and Gecko. Anything else I need?

I have successfully installed dota2 using the TF2 configuration. Seems to work fine.
( Kubuntu 12.04, Intel I7 980X, Nvidia GTS8800 ).

Actually I installed TF2 and then added Dota 2 in the steam client. Then I deleted TF2 and renamed the wineprefix. Editing the TF2 Pol script would be more elegant. :-)

( Apply button in advanced video configuration doesn't work - press the one in the simple tab after adjustments )

I have successfully installed dota2 using the TF2 configuration, too.

My config:
Wine 1.5.11
Arguments: -no-dwrite
Display: Enabled, Default, 1024, Default, Default, Enabled, Default
Wincfg: Win7
I had missing sound issues with pulseaudio 2.0 but I forced in winecfg/Audio the upper two output settings to my soundcard and it works.
