ok to start im running ubuntu 11.10 and am VERY new to it (under a month), i dl'd this program because of the mass amount of people saying how awesome this program is. i dl'd from the software center and then ran the sudo update code. running, the program tells me an update to 4.0.14 is available which i cant find or dl. anyway. out of 7 games tried only 1 installed and is playable. i own all the legitimate discs, but they all say "cant find disc" or stops install because 'Missing or corrupt file" or looking for files that never existed on the disc in the first place, as stated i own all the legitimate discs. ive read all i can about installing the programs with POL and wine and any videos ive found on youtube have people explaining it. after two days of research i dont see how i could be doing something wrong. here is the list of games i tired.

Deus Ex I - POL Installed and playable
Gothic I - POL Looking for non existent file (data4.cab) (even checked both discs on a windows machine to make sure)
Gothic II - POL wouldnt run / wine said missing or corrupt file
Starcraft I - POL couldn't find disc AFTER install completed (never left tray)
Warcraft II - POL could'nt find disc AFTER install completed (never left tray)
Warcraft III - POL couldn't find disc AFTER install completed (never left tray)
Halo I - POL install completed but froze when tried to play.

what am i doing wrong? is there someone that can give me direct point by point instructions dumbed down for a noob on what to do? can someone help me?

Hi,

If you have any problem, you should make a bug report for each of them.

Soemtimes, we use a different version of the cdrom. It can explains why POL does not recognize your cdrom.
If it's the case, send us a bug with the file list of your cdrom, so that we can fix the problem
