Problems with Audio on Steam

Under the default drive, I was able to choose Pulse as my audio driver, and the sound test works.

After installing Steam, it created a new drive, and automatically set DirectSound as the driver. I can not produce sound from this driver. Nor, can I seem to change the driver that's being used.

The audio test fails with DirectSound, and there are no sounds within Steam games.

Any ideas?
