Having a hard time getting magicka to work with POM. I keep getting this error.

I went through the installation multiple times, and different ways. ( i got it from direct download... but i also had steam install it..).

hi,

This is your problem :

Microsoft.Xna.Framework.NoSuitableGraphicsDeviceException: Could not find a Direct3D device that supports the requested features.

The game said your graphic card is not enough powerfull to run this game. What is your graphic card model ? (Intel one I presume)

It is not, but wine is first a GNU/Linux software and, under GNU/Linux, AMD/ATI driver is horrible, the worst driver ever seen with catastrophic performances. So wine dev never really tried to make their software run good with AMD/ATI cards.

This has a side effect on OSX too. Things go better since AMD hired 2 more people to work on GNU/Linux driver. If they make the driver better, wine will run smoother and wine devs will seriously consider supporting thoses cards.

When PoM 4 will be out, Magicka installer will be updated, including auto-detected detailled VideoDriver infos for wine, this will help windows softwares to accurately detect graphic cards and avoid the kind of error you have.

You could try it again by this time and see if it goes better :)
