Darwine version: 1.3.7
Distribution: Snow Leopard x64
Distribution: 10.6.5
Comments:
- The game runs a little better if you get rid of "unessential" effects like shadows and anti-aliasing.

Here is a preview of the game, made on Linux:

I have the Australian DVD. When I select the BLACK_OPS mount, PlayOnMac reports that it is "Unable to find the CD-ROM".

If I try to run the DVD directly, Steam reports that it's setting up system configurations but freezes at that point.

I've made this installer with Digital Edition.
Can you please Tell me the exact name of the setup executable (respect upper and lower cases please) ? I will add it so you will be able to install.

The program starts installing Steam but fails to complete:

PlayOnMac also says that there's an update available, but I checked the download page and 2.4.1 is the latest.

Ignore the POM update message, it will be fixed very soon.

For the game, i've modified some dependancies, check if it's better, also launch POM from the terminal please, to see is wine produce error messages if the bug is still present.

At the end of the install, untick VCrun and DX install (ticked by default I think), let POL install do Dx install from the redist folder of the game (installed) and vcrun is already installed by POL.

After clicking "install", all I am prompted with is the license agreement. After that, the rest of the process is automated. I can't disable the installation of VC runtime or DX.

dammit, can't you do "custom" installation ?
It's an OSX wine problem, with linux version, DVD install is reported successfull.

I have a solution but it's not effective for you, doing the "Steam Store" installation will work, but you will have to let steam download the whole game...a pain since you have the DVD...

Edit : I've modified the POL installer so it will use the latest wine (1.3.8) witch have a series a bugfixes for windows installers (your problem come from here), try and tell me if it solve the problem.

Nope, no custom installation.

This time, the vcredist installer doesn't even popup and the COD installer doesn't run.

Actually, here's the complete output. I get to the stage where I select where the DVD is mounted, and then the only button that's active is Cancel:

Ok, the problem come from OSX wine 1.3.8, open a bug in the bugtracker please, Tinou will fix this issue as soon as he can, he's in charge of building OSx wine. Add the complete output.

I revert the POL installer to wine 1.3.7 for the moment

Done: http://bugs.playonlinux.com/en/issue-79.html

By the way, I downloaded all 8 GB of the game via Steam on my 10 mbit connection. When I tried to run it, Steam said it had to complete setup, but then failed. From the terminal, this was the output:

fixme warning can be ignored.

The two errors at the end are wine bug with Steam, reported with ATI/AMD and Intel GMA cards when using Xquartz.

Try to set "Virtual Desktop" in winecfg and see if it's better.

Only crossover game can handle this bug for the moment, at least for mac, since codeweaver devs have their own X11 implementation with many bugfix for ATI/AMD and Intel GMA cards. Codeweaver X11 is copyrighted so we cannot add it to POM.

Xquatz dev team is aware of the problem and have it reported to their to-do list...it's a matter of time...

Enabled virtual desktop but same error.

I believe I have a GeForce 330M. Shouldn't that be used instead of the Intel graphics chip?

Try wine 1.2.1-cxg. It's crossover one
GNU_Raziel Wednesday 1 December 2010 at 13:18
GNU_Raziel

The wine 121-cxg package do not include Codeweaver X11 if i'm not mistaken (since it's copyrighted it can't be added to sources) so it will not make any difference...But try, who knows...
