Hello everyone! I just downloaded PlayOnMac today. I have been messing around with Wine, Wineskin, WineBottler, and Crossover for only about a week now, but I am really interested in the possibilities. It seems like every step forward brings a slew of new questions though. Can anyone help me get started with PlayOnMac? How do I install new software?
For example, I would like to play Runes of Magic, or Lord of the Rings Online. Both of these are free to play and downloadable from the internet. Do I need to download the client files and look for the Setup.exe file for POM to run that? Or can I click the regular "download here" button the game's page and run the respective .exe file with POM?
Once I have the file I need, how do I get POM to load/install it? Does POM create a shortcut icon, or do I load POM and access the game from a list?
I appreciate any help someone can offer!
Thanks.
Jed

Hi,
First, start by downloading the .exe
Then, double click on it
Then, wait for the end of the installation
Then, make the shortcut (POM will ask you to do so) : Give to POM the .exe would you would run on Windows to start the game.
Eventually, if you have some problems, start by applying OSX patch in install menu (Other category)
(Note that you might not be able to run games on POM with an Intel GMA card)

This is the most useless information on using software I have ever seen. I have written technical manuals for over 30 years and this is totally useless. It doesn't explain how to find anything, it assume knowledge that a new user won't have and uses acronyms with no explanation of what they are, much less where to find them.
I certainly hope the software is much better than this, if it is not, I'll delete it and spread the word.

Sireman, I think you should not forget that we work for free.
And we don't care about raging people like you. If you are not happy, try to help us to instead of criticizing freely.
If you don't want to use PlayOnMac, it will not prevent me from sleeping

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and I recognize many similarities with CrossOver for Games. But this software is free so I will not judge the people over here about not having much information yet. This is a forum and it needs to grow, it's for communication between the members at the people who are delopping this great product. I hate it when people are judging others. To them I would say join the club and contribute in a positive way.
Keep up the good work guys

Hi - I'm new, not very tech savvy and I want to use PublishorPerish on my Mac. I read where PlayOnMac will allow me to do that. Trouble is, I can't figure out how to do that.
I've installed PlayOnMac
I've followed a link to Publish or Perish and 'downloaded' a script (I think)
What do I do next, I wonder?
