[Tip] Help for the sound problem in Steam

Some of you might have noticed, the sound in Steam games are not really great and there is some echo sometimes coming from Wine 0.9.40. Well it comes from the fact that dsound underwent a very heavy regression (no idea on the reason of this regression)

Here's how to correct this

First, launch Wine Config, choose Steam and set the settings like in the picture below :



And voila ! The sound become normal again

 I dont not see the picture, can you please explain what you did? I do have some poping in Skyrim. I solved it by uninstalling it and playing through Native Steam through Proton 3.7-8 . It works great but I noticed my CPU doesnt throttle so much when I use POL instead of Native Steam. I dont know why this is but perhaps that has something to do with the sound issue.

Why are you using wine 0.9.40 ????

It's not even a release version. You should NEVER use wine version below 1.x.x
