Hello,

I have been trying to get the Sims 3 to work just right in Ubuntu for a while, but with no success. Recently, I reinstalled the game. Where previously I was /usually/ able to get audio, I no longer get audio. The intro and welcome screen have audio, but after the game is finished loading your town the audio stops. No errors are displayed.

I have the latest patch for the game and am not using any modifications to the game.
I tried switching to the OSS driver, but then there was no sound at all -- not even during loading.
I have have the feature to mute on defocus disabled.

What can I do?

Specifications:
Ubuntu 10.10 (Gnome)
The Sims 3 WINE Version: 1.2.2
Selected Audio Driver: ALSA
Audio Card: (According to Dell's Website) Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio

I tried it again. It worked fine this time (the only thing was I installed PoL 3.8.7..)
I'll monitor it and see if it quits working.
By the way: The "upgrader" for the game does not install the newest patch.
Perhaps someone could add the option to download the "super" patch, which is about 400MB. This installs all patches to the version of the super patch you downloaded.
I wrote where to get these on my website:
