I already submitted a bug report regarding this.
http://bugs.playonlinux.com/en/issue-75.html

But as it seems to be commonly known what a "Digital Version Executable" is, the bug tracker may be not the right place...

I have a Steam account. But never used it so far. So can you please give me some hints how to install Monkey Island Special Edition with PlayOnLinux?

(As far as I know you can start Steam-Games from within Steam only.)

Thanks

Sorry. Now I had a look to the next bug report. The answer is actually there.
http://bugs.playonlinux.com/en/issue-76.html

Anyway. I suggest to add some hint about what a "Digital Version Executable" is.

"Please enter your Secret Of Monkey Island Digital Version Executable (i.e. SteamInstall.msi)"

(or is already installed Steam.exe asked for?)

I've modified both Monkey SE Installers so they have now specific Steam options, it must be easier for you now.

As you use Steam, please be sure to wait for complete download of your steam game (after steam installation it launch itself if I remember right) before pressing "Forward" at the end of the install or POL launchers will fail to find the game exec.

This modification will be applied for all other Installers with Digital Edition Support in few days.

-Retail DVD
-Steam Store Edition (game bought directly from steam)
-Other Digital Edition (such as Direct2Drive)

Fallout 3 POL Installer need heavy cleanup, it will be done as soon as possible.

Try to install the latest Nvidia driver (260.19.21), it could fix the problem.

And you're right, Ubuntu 10.10 is the primal cause of many wine hang, a simple example :
-CoD Black Ops install and run fine with ubuntu 10.04
-The same game do not even install most of time with Ubuntu 10.10

It's a release problem and will probably never be fixed since POL and wine code is clean and work for all other releases (Debian, OpenSuse, Gentoo, ect...), Ubuntu devs introduced too much useless "particularities" to Ubuntu 10.10 witch broke POL and wine compatibility.

Thanks a lot. This is much cleaner!

But unfortunately this does not solve my problem. (I assumed I my problem was cause b/c of choosing the wrong install file).

Installation still hangs at the point you mentioned above. Steam seems to install file first. Then it runs an update. After that I can see the Steam icon in the task bar -- but the main window never shows up.

Any idea?

I use:
- Debian squeeze 64
- Intel onboard graphic

There is a known bugs with wine and Intel GMA cards still unsolved...Because of GMA driver.

Be also sure to install ia32-libs package since you're using x64 Debian.

You mean the debian package ia32-libs? That's installed. In that case the problem are likely to be caused by the the wine/Intel GMA bug you mentioned. :-(

Anyway. The original topic is solved ...

The CellID entries are proof Steam is running but you have this error :

err:ntlm:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path.

It's caused by missing .Net Framework 3.0 missing dll (reported as NOT anymore needed with latest wine)...

So, try to install .Net Framework 3.0 using the "PlayOnLinux Funtions" installer in POL, search for ,it in "Install", it's easy.

I don't think this the main problem since, from my tests, Steam is perfectly running without it but better try than doing nothing :)
