Hi,
I am experiencing periodic "slow-downs", When I start Starcraft2, all is smooth for around 10 minutes and then at 5 minute intervals, the game freezes, and audio gets played in a 500ms loop. It is most fustrating.
Any ideas ?
I am running :
- Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 kernel 2.6.32-24 / Gnome
- POL 3.8 from the POL deb repos
- StartCraft 2 1.0.3.16291
- native screen size 1920x1200 / playing at 1440*900

this is a known bug of wine for this game with some configurations, there is no fix for the moment, but some report improvements when using -opengl options when loading the game...Personnaly I didn't see any improvement but you can try.

-opengl does not seem to make a difference.
I think that is has to do with over-heating, when the computer is cold the problem appears much later than when the computer is hot.
I am using a Dell Vostro 1720. Vostros are known for over heating.
I have cleaned out the fan compartment and hoovered the cooling radiator, a lot dust was blocking it and things seem to be better now. I will keep you posted.

Indeed over heating seems to be it. After cleaning out the fan compartment I was able to play an entire game with no freezes.
